I think this piece turned out really well. I used a technique where i pealed up rubber cemment from painted strips of paper , and then painted them again. The found paper I used were from an old music book, and they are in 3 pieces, in order for it to qualify for a triptych.

War and Peace

This was my diptych, it consisted of cut-out images from bristel board, placed on top of tissue paper. I obivously created a war and peace motif, but I will leave some of the interpretaion to the viewer.

The Next Backsteet Boys

This assignment was to create a CD cover for a fictional band. I thoroughly enjoyed almost every aspect of this project, from coming up with names of songs, to deciding b/tw fonts. I created rough sketches using Prismacolor and then used photoshop to clean then up. I also used photoshop for laying out the designs. I guess my band would be a rock/alternative band, that likes International Baccalaureate literature. Overall I really enjoyed this assignment, and am really pleased with the outcome.

Diptych

This assignment was to make a diptych (art piece w/ two parts) using cardboard paper to fill in contour drawings. I truly hated this assignment. I found it inordinately difficult to cut the paper pieces precise, and never really liked the contour drawings I was using. The only aspect I find redeeming about this piece, is the connectivity b/tw the two halves.

Oz

For this assignment we needed to create posters for the drama dept.'s production of "The Wizard of Oz". I left the background in black & white to parallel to the original movie and how it starts in black & white before upgrading to color when Dorothy arrives at the Emerald City. I also made the letters for Oz reminiscent of the yellow brick road. I then used photoshop to add text to my piece.

Oh the Woe's of the Working Man

Another altered book entry. This prompt was, 'too late'. For my entry I put a picture of a running man, to me he looks like he is going to work, on top of an image already in my book. Then I used prismacolors to add the closing gate and color to the background.

This assignment involved word art: one word, two fonts, and color overlapping. I'm not the best or neatest painter, so consequently I found the assignment rather frustrating. I did my best ,however, and I think it turned out pretty decent.

Image transfer altered page

This was my fourth entry to my altered book. This time the requirment was to use an image transfer. I decided I wanted my transfer to be of a silhouette. As a side note I actually found better pictures when looking under the misspelled word : silouette. I guess were all bad spellers. Anyways after performing the transfer I used black paper and a fine-tip black marker to create a frame for the picture. Also to parallel the imperfections in the transfer I made holes and tears in the frame aswell.

This is my third a.b. entry. The prompt was music theory. I envisioned a music note, in this case an eighth note, being cut open, with many different waves of sounds flowing out from it.

Fibonacci's House

This composition was based on the fibonacci pattern. I started the pattern at the door knob and then expanded the house with each step of the pattern. I enjoyed working on this project. It was really the first time I used Prismacolor and even though it was rough at times I think it turned out okay.

My second altered book entry. This time the prompt was 'formal wear in 2030'. I used a picture from google images and cut it into pieces in order to make the clothes. I actually really like the way it turned out.

My first altered book entry. The prompt involved cars of the year 2030. I tried to incorporate a nascar-ish theme into it.
